Are you interesting in making your house more comfortable and energy efficient, at a very low cost? Well, you are looking in the right place! GETS Energy Services has started auditing and upgrading houses in Berkeley and Richmond. We are providing additional training to some of the graduates of the Green Energy Training Services (GETS) program by performing energy audits and insulating, air sealing and duct testing/sealing the homes of moderate income homeowners.
The audit takes about 3-4 hours to complete and is a comprehensive evaluation of the energy use in your home. We use state-of-the-art building diagnostic tools to evaluate each home individually. While we are evaluating your home, we can also install FREE electrical and water saving devices, such as CFL’s, low flow shower heads and water aerators. We also evaluate your home for anything that could be unhealthy by conducting multiple natural gas and carbon monoxide tests throughout your house to ensure your home is healthy.
Funding for the rebates and incentives for this program are provided by Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission and the City of Berkeley or the City of Richmond (through the Department of Energy’s “Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant” funds made available through the AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT).
In Berkeley, you can receive up to 75% in rebates and incentives and in Richmond the city will pay up to $5,000 of the total cost (which means it’s FREE to most homeowners).
